Olympic Knitting Update - Sleeves

Now, you all seem to think that I’m a speedy knitter. I don’t really think so. I mean, my needles click right along, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s all about how often you need to stop and reference your pattern or count stuff. My secret is not having to do this. Why?

Olympic Knitting Update - Sleeves

Pattern row counters. One keeping track of my cables, and one for my decreases or increases. When I get to the bottom loop on the decrease counter, I know it’s time to do my SSKs and K2togs. When I get to the 2nd loop on the cable counter, I know it’s time to cable. I never have to worry about whether or not I remembered to click the katcha-katcha or mark a note down. I can just keep knitting and let the loops do the work for me. (If you’d like to learn how to make your own, go to the “Free Patterns” tab at the top of the page. I have a tutorial for you there.) Once the Olympic knitting is done, I’ll be making some to stock in my etsy shop. In the mean time, I have had a chance to start painting sock blockers again.

Sock Blockers Progress

It’s a slow process. I only have room for a few sets at a time. Sometime this week I’ll decorate these, then it’s on to the polyurethane this weekend. After a few coats of that, it’ll take another week to 2 weeks to dry and cure before they’re ready to ship.

Despite the destashing going on around ye olde turtle condo, my recent birthday has blessed me with an influx of new shiny pretty yarn to show you for the next few fridays. The first one is literally shiny.

420 yards of this lovely goodness. I know, you’re all thinking “SOCKS!” but this has been a yarn I’ve had my eye on for quite some time at Charlotte Yarn. and never once had I thought “socks”.

I’m thinking a shrug or a shawlette. Something pretty to lay about my shoulders.

This yarn was a birthday gift to me from my wonderful friend Tvini. She was stealthy and snuck it onto my doorstep the Thursday before my birthday, right before she headed for the beach for the weekend.

It was a wonderful welcome home after a long day at work. Thank you, my friend.
