It’s Heel Time!

Jul 15th, 2009 by turtlegirl76

Thanks to the fact that I had to wait for 3 days for the last Sookie book to land in my hands, I had ample opportunity to focus on my knitting. I’ve got one Cotty sock done, and the second is ready for the heel flap.

You’ll notice I carried the pattern down to the tip of the toe. (What is with me and patterned toes lately?) I moved the decreases to the inside of the pattern on the top of the foot, and 6 stitches in on the bottom. This is what it looks like when it’s on the foot.

It fits like a dream and looks pretty cool too. The Cotty sock knits up super fast. I think I’ll be knitting this pattern several more times.

I finished one of my car knitting socks as well, and I started to pick up the stitches for the second one.

I’d show you the first finished one, but since it somehow attached itself to the velcro of Knitterboy76’s messenger back last night, it’s unavailable for the photoshoot. It must have fallen out of my emergency knitting bag when I was over at his apartment watching Big Brother 11 last night. (Go Lydia!) Hopefully I can get it back soon. I was hoping for an FO shoot on those for tomorrow, but it looks like it will be next week before you see it completed.

The boys would like to thank you for the kind words about their sock design. Ripple was even caught celebrating in a rarely captured moment of playfulness.

Well, now Ripple, that’s quite an undignified pose for you, isn’t it? But I love you anyway!
Your Cotty socks are awesome, esp with the toe mods. I can’t believe I haven’t bought this pattern yet and signed up for the KAL! Must go make Carrie happy….

Socks look great! Do you have a favorite source for the Zauberball yarn? One you would like to send business too per chance?

    Go Ripple!
The Cotty Sock is pretty. The patterned toe gives it a special touch.

I, too, am working on cotty and love the pattern! I wish I could turn mine out as fast as you but I’m only on the foot part of my first one! Your’s look great…I love the color and how you did the toe!

I have started shaping my toes specifically for my feet too. I slant the decreases for each foot and I love the fit that way as well. I love the way you did the lace down to the toe. Very special look.

Very cool on the Cotty sock toe! It looks like the grafting is perpendicular to the usual?
It’s good to see Ripple having fun.

Prodigious knitter, you are. That’s a lovely blue. And I still love the colourway on the Zuaberball

So you decided not to knit the heel separately and graft it on, I take it?

yeeeeow !! lookie there ! ripple blackmail photos . gee, i hope he doesn’t read the blog. your favorite something could be turned into kitteh confetteh . i had to go buy the cotty pattern after seeing yours, but they’ll have to wait until ripple and calvin are off the needles, and i might have to make another pair in gremlin colors, he’s a mackerel tabby. know anybody that makes that color ?
