Introducing, Isobel

Jul 10th, 2009 by turtlegirl76

Y’all know that LizardToes makes some of my favorite stitch markers. (Ok, well, ALL of my favorite stitchmarkers) But did you know she also dyes some kick ass yarn? Behold.

IMG_3423

Named after one of her little pooches, this yarn is 10% Cashmere, 10% Nylon and 80% Merino Wool. Just enough Cashmere to make it some of the softest damn yarn I’ve ever felt.

IMG_3454

I mean seriously. I’m wearing it around my neck. Y’all know that when I wear yarn around my neck it means serious bidness.

IMG_3445

It also means that it’s very likely to be put on the swift next to be knit up. I’m thinking that these will make a nice pair of Cotty socks.

IMG_3434

After fondling Discoknits’ cashmere blend Cottys, I haven’t been able to stop contemplating a pair of my own. I was going to join the KaL on Ravelry to make them out of Socks that Rock, but I think I’ll do the other pattern option instead and make my Cottys from this.

IMG_3432

A wise choice don’t you think? This colorway is called “Swimming Lessons” and she’s got it in stock on her website now.

Are y’all sure that cashmere yarn around the neck isn’t considered business casual?

Stumble It!

That color and that softness….way to o beautiful for socks. Unless you plan on wearing your Glass Slippers that is.

That looks like a very difficult color to photograph, but it’s really pretty! I just finished a pair of cashmere-blend socks. Enjoy yours!

oooh, just went and got me some!

Muy bella. I just can’t bring myself to wear cashmere on my feet. A little too decadent. Like blowing my nose with $5 bills you know?

Thanks for the site link. I may have to get the bamboo stuff. It is pretty and I just got a pattern for my daughter it would be perfect for.

Thanks for the plug. You did a great job photographing that color, a previous commenter was correct, it’s a tricky colorway to photograph!

At least you’re just wearing it around your neck. I threatened to unwind all 10 lbs of it and roll around in it naked when it came in. I’m glad I didn’t because it got even softer and cushier after dyeing. It’s great stuff and I’m about to knit the husband a pair out of it.

LOVE THAT BLUE!!!!!! and sure, yarn around neck is business casual. Depends on the business…..

  13. on 10 Jul 2009 at 11:26 am13Donna

Gorgeous. The yarn even looks soft in the picture. That color is wonderful, too. Off to check out the website…

Gorgeous turquoise! That will look wonderful in Cotty socks. I have some 10% cashmere sock yarn from Fleece Artist, and I plan to knit a scarf with it, so I don’t see why the skein around the neck wouldn’t work at work. ;)

Sure, it is business casual. Just say that everyone on the runways of Paris will be wearing yarn as a necklace this season. You are merely ahead of the curve.

Even through the computer screen that yarn looks super soft.

Great colour for the Cotties. Mine are almost done and I can’t wait to get them on my feet. They would’ve been done already, but I’ve been a crochet fiend since I started that blanket!!!

That is some beautiful stuff…looks like a swimming pool!

  18. on 10 Jul 2009 at 3:30 pm18Jen

*ahee!* That’s me gasping inward. I am in love. I need that to become a pair of ‘Rick’ socks in that color.

I just got my first set of lizard toes, I absolutely ADORE them. Seriously they are really really nice stitch markers. I see more of these in my future. Thanks for the recommendation!

Broke my vow not to buy yarn today just to get something cool to test knit your socks. (Shibui) Stop trying to enable me to buy more!

Goodness! Be careful…..that 10% of cashmere has been the death of me!! And here you are telling us about more!! I’m trying so hard not to click, but I know I’m going too! And that blue…swoon!! Just love!! Perfect for the Cotty socks I think!

  22. on 11 Jul 2009 at 9:28 am22Becca

  25. on 12 Jul 2009 at 8:10 pm25Jadielady

*drool* Absolutely beautiful. I’m not sure I could bear to put that on my feet!
