Ignore the Fact There’s No Knitting Today
Jul 2nd, 2008 by turtlegirl76
The knitting is all packed up. No, I’m not quitting. I’m packed and ready to head to the west coast to visit my family! Charlotte’s Web has had some progress made on it this week, only 6 rows though. But it’s going to be my plane knitting today. If I can’t make decent headway on a 5 hour flight, then there may be no hope for it getting done this summer. I’ve also packed the Cleopatra’s Stockings in hopes that I can get some good progress on those before the July shipment of the STR club comes in later this month. Ideally, I’d like to finish them. We’ll see about that. But in the meantime, I have my purse projects. Both crochet.
Yes, another market bag. This time, I went bigger on the base and I’m doing several rows of double crochet for the bottom edge rather than one. It’s a simple pattern to modify so I’m planning them in all different sizes. I had started this on Monday, but ended up stopping here:
You see, I was waiting for IT to be done with my work computer so I was sitting in my bosses office while I waited, and noticed she needed a coaster. So I left it for her.
Heh. It was knit-office-graffiti. I got a message from her yesterday saying she loved it and Thank You.
Boteh has also been steadily progressing.
If I go by the pattern, I’m at the halfway point. I have 8 triangles and working on the 9th. I still have a good bit of my first skein left, so I think I’ll be able to add at least 4 more triangles to that. We’ll see. Well, I leave out this afternoon so I may be slow in replying to your comments, but I’ll have my computer with me! I do have plans for blog posts while I’m gone though they may be published later in the day than normal. I was going to plan a bunch of posts ahead of time but meh. I’ll wing it. ![]()

Ninja crochet!
Heh heh, I love the stealth coastering. We’re headed to the west coast, too…I can’t say I’ll miss the humidity and mosquitoes
Have a great trip!
Have a fabulous trip! And enjoy your plane knitting. I made about half a sock on my way to CA last winter. (And I was still new to sock knitting!)
Wow, love the look of Boteh. Have a great holiday
Have a GREAT trip!!!! Send us lots of pictures!
Have a great trip! Where on the west coast are you going?
Most excellent knit-office-graffiti! I am a huge proponent of coasters… people laugh at me b/c I always insist on using coasters (or swatches) on my coffee table, which is glass and doesn’t really need protection.
Have a great CA trip! I’m jealous… might be time for me to go visit my parents in CA too….
Sneak-style crochet! You just totally upped your review factor by tenfold LOL
That Boteh is looking fiiine - I’m inspired to do a pink or purple colorway…
have a safe trip and say hi to Emma while you’re out there wooooooo - send me cool piccies via enV if you get a chance
xo much smooches

You are the crochet queen lately! Love those market bags too, by the way.
Have a WONDERFUL time. Vacations are the best! Too bad my lame employer waited until six weeks after they hired me to tell me that I get no vacation for the first year. Bah, Humbug. At least I telecommute, and as long as my shit gets done on time and properly, what they don’t know won’t hurt them.
LOL on the coaster blitzkrieg! Love how that Boteh is coming along, too. Hmmm, maybe I *will* have to chain on now.
P.S. West coast, ay? Any chance you’ll be down in my neck of the woods?
Love the knit-office-graffiti! And long plane rides, you should definately make some progress on the Charlotte’s Web! Can’t wait to see how it turns out.
The Boteh scarf is gorgeous too. Have a great trip!!
The scarf looks very “swooshy”, like it swooshes from one side to another. Or maybe that’s just me?
Have a safe journey.
I saw some of your plurking comments about packing. I feel the same way…..procrastinate…procrastinate…..then pack the day I have to leave for the airport. haha. Have fun : )
For the record, Cristi will not be forbidden from posting while on vacation. She will merely have to fight for control of one of the many machines floating around the household in order to toss up her blogs.
As long as she posts pictures of her kitty-in-laws, she will be permitted unfettered access to the Internet.
I’ve been meaning to comment on how much I dig the market bag. I’ve been putting off buying the store re-usables because they’re so BLAH (and probably aren’t manufactured in an ecofriendly fashion), thinking, “I could knit something better. But when will I have the time?”
CROCHET! What a “duh” moment. Fast, sturdy, and — uh — fast. I have a whole cone of variegated cotton yarn (or will, once I frog that boring tank-in-progress) that will be perfect.
You did drive by knitting. I love it!
Have a great trip. Can’t wait to see what all you can finish with a 5 hour plane ride!
Have a great trip–where on the West are you going? Are the kittehs coming with you? If not, you better lock up the liquor cabinet.
Like the scarf, and great coaster.

Nice gifting! Crochet really looks fast — maybe it’s something to consider. My knit market bag is dragging. The scarf looks great. Have a good trip!
Have a great trip!
Hey, you wouldn’t happen to be in OR would ya?
I’m on the West Coast myself for the week.
I gotta make me one of those market bags
