The Rose Garden Without The Smell

Told you if I played my cards right I’d have something for this Handspun Monday!
4 oz of Gale’s Art roving purchased at Maryland Sheep & Wool 2008 spun up into 268.3 yards of 2 ply vibrancy. This was Al’s inaugural fiber.
At about 14 wpi (who knows, I stuck the ruler in after I’d already hanked it up) it’s pretty evenly spun. I was going to try and navajo ply it, but I always have such thin spots occasionally in my spinning that I feared it would break and frustrate me.
I think I may make a scarf out of this. The way the colors intertwined as I two plied it are so pretty. I don’t want to lose that by wearing it on my feet.
I mean I could. I have enough yardage to do some short socks, but I don’t want to.
Please don’t ask me what ratio I spun it on. I have an Ashford Kiwi and I set it to the higher whorl and the outside groove on the wheel. Specific enough for ya? Heh.
Bloglines users I realize I have an issue with my feed being recognized by that piece o’ shit feed reader, but I’ll be damned if I can figure out where the line of code is that’s gone wrong. Why don’t you do me a favor and switch to Google Reader? I’d be ever so grateful. Heh.

Beautiful.
I agree - not for feet. And a plain scarf will still be interesting with all the colour changes.
All this spinning is not helping me with my lust for a Lendrum.
Very nice indeed. Love the colors.
Ahem. Hello, my name is Allison and I’m addicted to Google Reader…
Ooh, ooh, ooh! I’d be more coherent, but look how pretty! I love the way the two colors intertwine. I actually said that out loud before I got to the part where you said it
Definitely scarf. It’d be wasted on short socks.
That is some pretty yarn!! I love what the colors did as you plied it.
What a great idea wrapping the spun stuff up with the label that was around the original fiber. Duh. It’s so obvious to me now!
Ha ha, call me old school, but unless there’s a way to import all your feeds from Bloglines to Google Reader, I will just remember to always click thru here daily.
Wow - that looks GREAT! Congrats!
**Note to self - figure out what the hell Google Reader even IS**
Sunrise and sunset. Very pretty! I love the spinning!
What a brilliant idea! Funny how some of the greatest ideas are also the simplest! And your spinning is looking spectacular too! WTG!!!
What Bezzie said … too lazy to switch. Perhaps once I have the job wrangled for the month I’ll start poking around with it. Meanwhile, I know my favorite turtle posts on weekdays, so I’ll always click over
Pretty spinning! I finished two socks last night … unfortunately, they do not a pair make!
Beautiful colors!! It’ll be a very nice scarf. Heh…I have google reader…but can’t figure out how to use the darned thing!
Those colors are so pretty! That yarn might look good with that lace scarf pattern from the spring knitty.
Beautiful yarn! I’m getting a wheel soon and look forward to being able to try something like this. Definitely Scarf!
Oh! So pretty. Now I can’t wait to spin mine up…
It looks grand…just..grand…
Look at you and your bad-assed self with that handspun! It’s real purty and mighty fine…;)
I have that wanty feeling.
You spun that? Lovely!
I totally agree - don’t put it on your feet - you’ll hardly get to see it.
Gorgeous colors! I think a scarf or cowl would be perfect.
