It Used to Mean Poo

But apparently, KawKaw can also mean beautiful.
This is one of the new colors from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. I honestly thought it was just shades of brown (heh, KawKaw, brown) but when I got it in the mail, the purples revealed themselves.
I bought the lightweight, since I seemed to have purchased mostly mediumweight. My want for instant gratification socks never ceases. But doing the Cedar Creek socks reminded me that the lightweight really isn’t so bad. It’s still that same sproingy BMFA yarn we all know and love.
I’ve seen some of the socks that people are creating with the KawKaw but I haven’t settled on a stitch pattern yet for it.
The more tonal nature of the KawKaw leads me to believe that it might could handle a more complex stitch pattern than most, but on the other hand, not every sock has to have a stitch pattern. I really like just plain stockinette too.
But either way, though the name may make me feel like I’m 6 again and think of poo, it sure doesn’t look like it.
Well, unless you’ve eaten a lot of beets I suppose.

Ummmmm - beets, poo. For some reason South Park is coming to mind.
The STR is lovely, but of course I’ve rarely seen one that isn’t lovely
Mmm, yummy yarn! See, I just think of chocolate when I look at it. That seems to help me get away from the thoughts of poo.
Monkeys. It will make beautiful monkeys. It reminds me a little of the ‘River Rock’ yarn from an indy-dyer that I used on my monkeys. And their goregous, if I do say so myself.
Ooh, I’m featuring brownish yarn today too! That color STR is lovely.
ha ha ha poo! Yeah I’m 6 too!
I bet it knits up beautiful though!
Heh heh, you said poo. Seriously–kawkaw? Love it! Gorgeous colors…I think it could handle a cool stitch pattern.
I’m delightfully surprised! Didn’t think I’d love it, but I do. Hmmm, just when I had convinced myself that only NEEDED solids!
I’ve never heard that term for poo before. Now if they named it Pooder, I’d be just as 6 y.o. as you. Hee hee!
That’s funny you went with lightweight. I’ve been thinking I need more mediumweight sock yarn!
Now see, I always that the stinky version of that word was spelled CaCa. Learn somethin’ new every day…
Hi Cristi
this is off topic a little-I saw the Charlotte Yarn Summer Shawl made from Louet- is that pattern available? I thought you might have the inside scoop- I think it is something that I would wear quite a bit. Thanks
I have been thinking about ordering the Kawkaw along with several other things- I am so bad.
I now have 6 skeins of STR in four varieties in my stash and have yet to knit any of them.
Oh, and for the record? My sock-in-progress is winning today’s fight by knockout. It’s in timeout right now while I try to recover and figure out how the hell to fix my f’d up cable.
I think it is Ka Ka……Kaw Kaw is yarn. Duh, gosh Cristi - get it straight!
Giggle!! Great pictures!
Those armwarmers are just delightful! Makes me want to learn to crochet.
I love the colors, Can’t wait to see what you decide to do with it!
Vicki
Apparently, it can. I’m not a browns person (having skin with a blue-ish undertone may have something to do with that), but that’s very pretty.
Well, we know I love this color!! And the yarn! Its gorgeous, isn’t it!! I agree, the color certainly can handle a more complicated stitch pattern…of course, I say jump in and make Monkey KawKaw socks…hehehe!
I love love love this colorway.
Drool!
I had several poop jokes in mind, but I don’t want to shit on your yarn pron.

Browns and purples are remarkably pretty together. I do it in eye makeup all the time.
OMG- So gorgeous!!!
This colorway is awesome!
