Wracking My Brain
May 14th, 2008 by turtlegirl76
All morning, as I was getting ready, brain a little fuzzy from too much beer last night, I pondered. What in the hell have I worked on in the last week? Well, I did put one more tier of rectangles on Lady E, but not enough to justify another picture of her. But I did make progress on my Cedar Creek socks!
The heel has been turned and the gusset started. Wee! But what else did I work on? I still haven’t touched the Big Easy Vest. Hell I’m even pondering ripping the thing out because my heart just isn’t in it anymore and it’s just another project in my sidebar to stress me out. I didn’t touch the Tutu socks. Still need to measure and figure out if I’m ready for the heel. Haven’t touched Ariel, I suspect because I know it’s another long-freakin’-term project and I just don’t want to ponder it right now. But oh! I did work on Charlotte’s Web and introduced the 24 Karat to the mix.
That’s something anyway. I planned to work on it last night, but that didn’t pan out. But darts and pool did! Hooray, beer!
But what exactly have I been spending all my time on in the last week? OH YEAH! I got into this crochet thing, and after I finished the arm warmers (FO post tomorrow - it’s gonna kick ass) I started another crochet project.
And in starting this project, I also started something I swore I’d never knit. A skirt. This is Violet Beauregard from the Happy Hooker. I had the yarn, the project looked pretty cool, and I figured that crochet was a bit more sturdy than knitting so perhaps my ass won’t make a permanent indent in the skirt such that when I sit down for a while, after I rise from my chair, the imprint of my ass doesn’t create a bubble for people to stare at. Who knows, maybe this project will be a complete and utter failure, but for now, it’s using some yarn in my stash that’s been marinating for a while. Tahki Cotton Classic Color. I only have 5 balls of it, but the skirt has stripey things at the bottom that I figure I can use some King Tut mercerized cotton or some of the Online Linie 11 Alpha that I have in my stash. Again, busting the ginormous stash is the goal here. Let’s hope this thing works.

Every time I see your shawl I want to make one - but I know I’ll never wear one. It’s going to be great.
I be the skirt comes out great. I love how the stitch pattern looks in the photo. I’m sure it will work great with your new and improved smaller ass!
I love the colors in the Cedar Creek sock. What is the yarn and colorway? Thanks.
Heh. Ass bubble.
Socks look great!
Hmm. The crochet won’t cling like knit would, but the cotton might be a problem regarding butt indentations. I’m not familiar with that yarn (she says, as if she had encyclopedic knowledge of all others), but does it have something to add a bit of resilience to the cotton?
Love, love the colors in Charlotte’s Web.
You accomplish more in your off weeks than I accomplish in 3 months!
OMG! Rock on with your hooker self! I haven’t even gotten around to making Violet Beauregard, and it’s one of my favorite patterns in the book. I love your colors though. Way cool. I think it’ll look good when you’re done.
I’ve been thinking of wandering over to the dark side and re-learn crochet……. Can’t wait to see how Violet Beauregard turns out.
My SIL is always crocheting these gorgeous dresses that look awesome, but I’d never knit a dress. I mean, in my opinion, knit skirts make the size 0 models in magazines look hippy–my ass would look the size of Montana. But my size 12 SIL looks fantastic in crochet dresses, so the difference in the fabric should make for a cute skirt. Heh heh on “ass bubble”, though!
Hee..um…ass bubble
Thanks for the laugh, I needed it! Is it variegated yarn or doubled? Nice colors!
Skirt so pretty! Pink! Orange! Heeee.
Hee hee. I’ve had crochet on the brain since I got back home. I have to say, it is a cute skirt. If you like your finished skirt, it might be all the motivation I need to make the Walking After Midnight skirt. Or maybe even….a dress! Those yarn fumes must still be affecting my judgment….
Such beautiful colorways for your socks and skirt.
That skirt is going to look great! Nice to see someone else fall down the crochet wormhole.
oooh a skirt! can’t wait to see! be sure to ask the FO-tographer to take pictures of it upon completion.
You’re still ahead of me. I’ve spun several miles of singles, but I have knit maybe 3 rounds on my “Jaywalker of eternity.”
Everything looks georgous, now I feel like a big couch potatoe

I so love those Cedar Creeks! They are working perfectly with the Marbles
The skirt sounds fabulous…and looks pretty so far!
That’s a cool variety of projects. Good plan for not being bored.
Ooh, what lovely crocheting! I don’t like to wear such bright colors, but they do look gorgeous worked up…
Tahki cotton classic is great. I haven’t had much knitting time lately, but I’m enjoying your WiPs a day late!
Where did you get those fancy stitch markers (on CWS)? They look like something I’d actually use!
You have become a ” hookin fool”
Bubble Butt made me laugh too..”Baby got back…”
All three projects have the most beautiful yarn choices. Beautiful.
Excuse me, but are these socks knit cuff down?
