When You Have 2 Wheels…
May 12th, 2008 by turtlegirl76
Eventually you’ll actually have something to show on a Handspun Monday. I have not neglected Paulie Walnuts (my Ashford Traveler) in favor of Al Swearengen. No no. I am still plugging away at the pink Black Bunny Fibers stuff I got back in January. My goal is to have it all finished up by Saturday, May 24th (specific enough for ya?) at which point, I will allow Paulie to go on sleepover visit to YeaIKnit’s house for a while. Because yes, I need to enable yet another friend to jump into the world of spinning and buy a wheel. Hehehehe my evil plan is taking shape.
It’s not a lot. Just approximately 88 yards of Falkland Top that I dyed at Tvini’s house a couple weeks ago.
I didn’t want to try and spin the whole thing really fine, as I easily tend to do. Hence the thicker and thinner parts.
Some of this was spun up by KnitDiva when I let her play with Al for a bit this last week. So it’s a joint hank of aran goodness.
8 wraps per inch (hey, sgeddes! I remembered to do the WPI thing!), 88 yards, dyed with Cushings dyes (American Beauty very diluted for the pink, and diluted Silver Gray). I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to do with it. If I can eke out a hat, that’s probably what it’s going to be. Otherwise I suppose it could be a small bag or something. At any rate, hopefully with my returned spinning mojo, that will mean something for next Monday as well. ![]()

Very pretty in pink…
Ooh, pretty soft colors, and the thick/thin will make a really interesting fabric, too!
I love it! It’s beautiful. I got a Kiwi a few weeks ago and I’m so nervous to start anything that I’ve been avoiding it. I feel really guilty about it too! I need a good kick in the a** to get going! Gorgeous yarn!
What a lovely piece of magic. Dye. Spin. Knit. I want to be you.
Nice work!
And bonus points for remembering WPI
Lovely! I gotta take pics of all the stuff I’ve been spinning.
Very nice! I agree is you have two wheels we ought to be seeing some handspun!
Sounds like you like the new wheel.
I wish iI had an enabler to loan me a wheel! Too cool of you to pass on the addiction, I mean, love of spinning!
ps, work cookie cleared!
Spinning = world domination. Let me just jot that down…
Hehe..Tell her that Pauly Walnuts is perfect to give you that spinning urge..I should know!
Very pretty handspun! Looks so soft!
Handdyed and handspun! You rock!! I absolutely love love love those colors too!
Beautiful colors and yarn! But, that’s my biggest issue with handspinning: what exactly can you knit with 88 yds?
It really is lovely.
So pretty. I will have the nerve to ply, someday.
Very pretty colors! And it cracks me up that you named your wheel after PW!
I need to get me some more roving. My poor Fricke has been sitting still for too long.
