Bi-Craftual

I’ve been talking to Pam for a while about getting a good crochet lesson from her so I could expand my horizons. Turns out, this weekend was the best opportunity since not only did I have Pam, but Carrie and Betsy as well as Pam’s friend Hyon. I was surrounded by many talented crocheters, so I took advantage.
This is the second in a set of armwarmers inspired by Carrie’s Blinding Armwarmers. I’m really hoping she writes up a pattern soon because I apparently suck at following my own notes. I did the first armwarmer just fine with all my gurus surrounding me for advice. This second one has been ripped out about 6 times. The yarn is holding up well. It’s a something I picked up at the festival from Suzanne Banghart’s Natural Dyed Yarns. It’s dyed with Madder. Very pretty coral color isn’t it? I hope to finish these up tonight.
Before I picked my Chiagoo hook, I chose to work on the Pi Shawl as my travel knitting and drinking knitting. I managed to add about 24 rows to this section, with 24 to go.
I bought the yarn I’m using in the Pi Shawl at last year’s festival. Yeah. I really need to get cracking on that. Ah well. Finally, the day before I left for the festival, I was fortunate enough to work the Dining Chalet for my company at the Wachovia Tournament. There was lots of downtime. We were watching golf after all.
So my two at a time toe-up magic loop socks (uh, can we get a better name? TAATUMLS? Ooh! Tatus!) are nearly ready for a heel. Wee! Progress has been made. I didn’t get a chance to work on my other WiPs in the last week, but that’s ok. I will NOT stress out about them. One by one, they shall be done.

Pattern is coming! I promise! I just have to make sure it makes sense! Your armwarmer looks awesome anyway
As do your other wips! I wish I made such quick sock progress…
A lace shawl as drinking knitting? You’re way braver than me!
I have NOT been very good about getting knitting time in lately. In fact, knitting time was bumped for blogging time last night!
Looks like those socks are flying by, and yay for you for branching out into crochet! The only thing I can do with a crochet hook at this point is pick up dropped (knit) stitches when fixing mistakes!
I have knitting group tonight, though. All three of my in-progress projects will make the trip!
Don’t worry about the age of the yarn. I just pulled a lot of roving I bought at MDSW in 2006 out of the closet. And I know there’s more. It’s easy to get distracted by shiny new things.
Tatus looks awesome! (I think your re-name will totally catch on.) I keep thinking crochet might be a good thing for me to learn since it’s faster than knitting and I have so little knitting time, but then I decide I love knitting and don’t want to give up any knitting time. But watching my SIL churn out a crochet dress in a weekend does give me pause…
can you do short-row heels two-at-a-time? I’ve never done two at a time socks, but my thinking says no.
Every time I see those socks, all I can think is “candy corn.” I must have sugar on the brain or something.
Everything looks great!!! Don’t forget - if you need a crochet refresher there are videos on my website!!!
Okay, that’s weird. First Pam and I post our almost identical Clappies at the same time, and now you and I are getting bicraftual at the same time. So maybe all three of us are sharing the same brain! Or maybe I’m just zoning in on a psychic level where I’m copying you both. Prolly that last one.
Those socks are too cute and coming along nicely!! Love the armwarmers too
Glad to see your Pi peaking in again - looking lovely of course. Like the other WIPs too
You crack me up! Watching golf makes me sleepy but it makes you productive!
