Maryland Sheep & Wool: Part 1 - The People
May 5th, 2008 by turtlegirl76
Well, now that I’m back home (and this time I did NOT get a speeding ticket) I’m able to relax a bit and reflect on all the fantastic people I got to meet this weekend. First off, my travel companion this weekend was the wonderful PooterPrincess (ravelry).
She cursed me by telling me perhaps I should slow down because she may be splitting gas with me but not a speeding ticket. First lesson learned, never speed (especially through Virginia). The crew we stayed with at Pam’s were:

Front Row: PooterPrincess, TheOtherAmanda Back Row: Alerievay, Trillian42, Me and Random Raveler that Pooter met while waiting for us to quit gabbing.
Our first mission was to drop off the box at Cloverhill Yarn Shop booth for Hats for Alex. We ran into Jody there.
I covet her kickass camera. I’m sure her pic turned out better. Ah well. I also finally got to meet AKKnitter!
Pam and AKKnitterMichelle was one of my Knittyboard Secret Pals once upon a time. She’s so awesome. It was great to finally meet her. We missed her like ships in the night at last years festival. Then, we ran into MonkeeMaven with Artsygal.

Me and Artsygal
And imagine my surprise - nay, I was startled and shocked and awed by the appearance of BEZZIE!
I was so bummed when she had announced that she wouldn’t be able to go to the festival. I thought I’d never get a chance to meet her. I’m so happy to say that I did and she was just as kooky and sweet and I hoped and imagined. Why do I say kooky? Well, the fun didn’t stop with that pic. No no. I later got to meet the brilliant mind, behind Neighborhood Fibers (Karida) and look who popped up behind me with some rabbit ears.
I’ll stop there for now else I’ll be late for work. I have more people pics to post. Maybe you’ll get a double whammy on Monday and I’ll post when I get home from work again. God knows tomorrow will be packed with more pics of other things. Like testicle toss.

Aw man, my bunny ears didn’t quite make it! I am so glad I got to go and meet you all!
Looking forward to seeing your haul pics! AND reading the narratives re. Testicle Tossing. I must work to convince hubby that we would like to have this game in our back yard. Although we must rename it for the kidlet’s sake.
Was the cop at least hot?
Aw, I’m so jealous of y’all (like that? I threw that in just for you Caroliner’s!!)! Someday, somehow, I will get my Canadian butt down to some festival and meet everyone!!
Wow! Glad the Bez was able to make it! Look forward to the rest of the stories!! Especially TToss!
*sigh*
*meet-up envy*
I’m just concerned about a rumor that I read about a wheel? DETAILS?!!!?!?!
Cristi
just how much did that that lead foot cut into your weekend fun$$!!
can’t wait to see the pics of your haul- wish I could have been there- my friend Betsy (rug hooker) is always a vendor. maybe next year!
How pretty and happy you all are. It looks like a fun time was had by all.
Great pics.
So. Freakin. Jealous.
This blog entry is like my blogroll.. live and in person!
Too much fun!
Looks like a blast! My lip is stuck out a bit in jealousy, but I’m glad you had fun. Really I am.
I could have told you about Virginia. They have no sense of humor whatsoever. Anyway, it looks like a blast!! Maybe next year…
You were scrotossing? This I have to hear about!
Looks like fun! Good thing you slowed down…better to buy yarn than support the local cops
I just love seeing blog people out in the wild like that! Everyone looks so happy–maybe it was the fiber fumes?
i am STILL loving your beautiful vest!
How freaking sad am I that I didn’t find you? Sigh.
Im disappointed in you TG, with your speeding ticket and whatnot. I could’ve definitely told you about Va, as I’m not allowed to even drive through it, because my foot is so heavy. But, you live and learn, and I have no reason to judge, because I’ve been through worst on the way to a sheep and wool festival. Something about the fiber fumes. Maybe, I’ll share my shenanigans with you one day!
Looks like a great time!! Love that fair isle vest - that has got to be my favorite of your FOs. The colors, the fit, everything. Perfect!
The piccie of me with Hitchhiker’s Ass didn’t make it up in the pool?
*scratches head*
That vest is bitchin’ hot.
I’m so glad we met!
And even gladder you didn’t post a photo of me….. (;
First off, you and the vest look fabulous!!! How awesome that you got to meet and hang with so many fun people!! I was so excited when I read that Bezzie came and surprised you guys!
Will try to wait patiently for yarn pics…..
Ok, so many testicle jokes I can’t even see straight! Staying tuned for tomorrow’s post. I have Black Sheep Gathering in June and it’s my first fiber festival. I can’t wait! Again, your vest is awesome!
I realize that this post is all about fiber travel. However, I must say that Trillian’s new cut and particular dye placement is all about the face framing and she looks good.
Man that looks like it was a great time!
Looks like a blast!!
Vicki
OOh can’t wait for tomorrows update! :o)
Such a great time! I’m so jealous!!!! And planning for next year…
I spotted you AND the vest, but you were too far away… maybe next year!
great photos!
It was so great to see you!! Thanks for stopping at the booth!
OMG - I didn’t hear about the speeding ticket!!! OH NO!!! That sucks! Did you try and explain that it was an emergency trip to buy more yarn and roving????
