WiP Overload
Apr 30th, 2008 by turtlegirl76
I’m not quite sure what sort of fever came over me this last week, but I have so many WiPs right now I don’t know what to do. I have more planned too! My love for Noro is a big problem. I have 3 things in he works right now made out of Noro yarns. Of course, there’s the Lady Eleanor that had a few more tiers added to it.
Then Charlotte Yarn went and got in the new Noro Sock Yarn and my poor Cedar Creek Sock was deprived of a needle.
I haven’t tried magic looping on that 24″ needle yet, but I’m gonna give it a go before I replace it with an Addi. Why is the Cedar Creek missing a needle? Because of Ariel from the new Noro Joy book.
Yeah, that’s another long term project. 97 stitches in a lace pattern for 30 some-odd inches on a size 2 needle. My addi wouldn’t work with the Noro Sock yarn. It couldn’t do a freakin’ K2tog. I needed the pointiness of the Knit Picks needle. But even that isn’t the only new thing I’ve cast on this week. No, no. Because of Stacey, I also bought some Noro Taiyo to make the Anthropologie Inspired Capelet by PeonyKnits.
It’s almost done. I’m on the ribbing of sleeve #1 and then I have the other sleeve to do and I’m done. But you won’t see it again here until I can have a proper photo shoot done on it. I’ve been consumed by that project since Sunday. But let’s rewind to Friday night when I cast on for these:
I’m making these in preparation for a private lesson for two local ladies wanting to learn two at once toe-up on magic loop. I figured I’d better actually do it first. I know how to, I just haven’t bothered with it yet because I feel like it slows me down. But I’ve got the hang of it and I hope to be finished them in the next couple weeks.
The Big Easy Vest didn’t get worked on this week either. It’s in a hibernation of sorts. It’s day will come I’m sure. But for now, the only other thing seeing time with me is the Charlotte’s Web Shawl.
Yup, I’m still on Barney Rubble but the rows are getting longer so it’s not flying as fast as I’d like. I swear, I need to write out a schedule for my knitting so everything gets worked on. I didn’t touch the Pi Shawl this week, and I have another secret project in the works I haven’t had a chance to touch either. Plus I have another secret project I need to get working on, and I have this amazing yarn I got from Adam that needs to be, nay - begs, to be swatched. *sigh* What’s a knitter to do?

And I don’t EVER AGAIN want you to mock me for having multiple WIP’s. Got it, sister?
Everything’s looking great! How many of them are you bringing with you?
Ooh, I love that Ariel pattern. I can’t wait to see how yours turns out. How are you finding the kureyon sock to knit with? I’m not sure I would like knitting with it since it seems rather scratchy and sticky, but the colors are totally to die for…
OK. Must resist buying more yarn and patterns and fun toys.
I got a lot of use out of my Anthropologie Inspired Whatevermajig this winter–it’s a great pattern. I like the yarn you’re using for it.
Heh … I only have 1.5 active projects right now, but I usually look like you.
Do you like the Taiyo? I love petting that stuff, but I have yet to see a colorway that I can’t live without
I think that’s the longest I’ve ever seen your progress bar list on your blog! LOL
I’d say just cast on for whatever catches your fancy and knit on whatever you feel like! That’s why I love the freedom of being a knitter.
I love the idea of knitting two socks at once. Mind you, I’ve not even mastered knitting one sock at once on a circular needle. Toe up. Think it might be a while before I get to doing two, sadly.
Wow, you are crazy! Well, lots of WIPs now means lots of FOs later, right? Everything looks wonderful. I love how many different colors you have going.
At least you picked another colorway apart from Stacey! I completely copied the same colorway she used and using the same pattern! Do you love the Taiyo? I adore it! I burned through 1 ball in a day! I love those orange socks, too!
WIP overload. I know that feeling. I always have to put aside stuff when designing, but at times I just want to knit on something new and not old even if it only has 2 inches on it.
I can say yes you can magic loop on 24″ needles. I am not sure if you can do it on Addis but I do mine on Crystal Palace 24″s
I need to start doing two socks at once. Then I wouldn’t be so tempted to just move on when the first sock is done. Those are a lot of WIP’s but there are no deadlines in knitting!
Gee, I was digging in my knitting bag last night thinking I would post about the WIPs I have going. I refuse to cast on anything else until I finish something.
I *would* say it’s a case of the Noro Virus, but that would be so trite and hopelessly overdone.
Oooh, I love that yarn you’re using for the two at once socks! It looks very Jayne-esque. (Yes, I am a dork.)
I feel your pain on the multiple projects and too many other things you want to be working on. I’ve got a million babies to knit for and my sister’s wedding coming up fast, but all I want to be knitting is colourwork mittens. Sigh.
Your WIPs look great!
Got a match?
How odd, I thought that WIP’s only multiplied in the Netherlands…
Ha! Stacey got me too! And my mom liked mine so much - I’m making another one for her. I actually think it’s in the same colorway you are using! It is addictive - I made mine in 3 days, and it only took that long b/c I got sick! All other WIPs suffered in the meantime
Okay I just gotta say that the socks made me crave candy corn in the HUGEST way…
The only person hassling you about how much you have or have not done is yerself (well, and Pam, maybe
Work on what makes you happy at the time. It will all get done in it’s own due time. Cuz you and me, we’re planning on living to 137, right??
giggle, never seen so much active WIP’s here before! Very nice ones though!!
*off to find some candy corn now…maybe DD has some old Halloween candy
The way I count it, you’re still in single digits, so technically you’re still ok, right? Plus one of these turned into an FO tonight, yes?
Wow. I don’t even recognize this turtlegirl
All these WIP..does it mean you’ve evolved? Or become more like us? Who knows…all I know is all these projects look fantastic and I can see why you’ve cast them all on!!
Of course, the anthropologie capelet will be done in the blink of an eye so we can’t even count that! Gorgeous in Noro. I’ve made a bunch of these for gifts, but I’ve never made one for me…now that would be an easier, quicker knit!
Have a great weekend!! Bring on the fiber fun!
