Dye, Fiber, Dye!

Though it wasn’t nearly that vicious. It’s funny what a little color…
A little wet fiber…
And a little steam…
Will do to bring out the inner dork in a couple of fiber artists.
Though they really got that way when I pulled the camera out. Apparently you get instant dork when you add camera. But when you add dye and bamboo to a crock pot…
Well, and a little salt and soda ash bookended by a synthrapol wash, cool shit happens. However, you will have to wait until tomorrow to get the full blog entry on this. There’s entirely too many photos for me to sift through this morning (this blogging in the morning thing can sometimes be a bad thing when you’re in need of coffee and another hour of sleep.) More tomorrow I promise.
It’ll be worth the wait. Many thanks to Tvini for a wonderful afternoon of creativity.

There is nothing wrong with instant dork!!!!
What else is having your picture taken all about???!!?
Had fun yesterday!!! Roving is still drying, but the pastel looking roving is almost all spun ;).
Holy cow (sheep?) that’s a lot of yarn!
Colors look great from the photo - can’t wait for tomorrow’s post!
I’m immune to the dying virus (and the spinning virus) but I think that a pajama party full of dying knitters would get me sucked in. Looks like you had a ball!
Holy crap, you guys dyed a lot of yarn. Can’t wait to see the dried-and-reskeined pretty results!
Ooo, maybe I should do a blog post about the chemistry of wool dyeing! Or maybe someone should slap me before I get too carried away. Sigh.
wow, you’re brave - wearing light pink around all that dye stuff!
can’t wait to see tomorrow’s post
Holy cow that’s a lot of dyeing going on!
Yarn tease!
Wow, that’s a lot of dyeing! It looks like a dorky good time was had by all
I always think dyeing looks fun, but I barely have time to knit, so it’s on the “when Lilah’s in school” list of stuff to learn.
Oh man! That is a truckload of dyed yarn. Looking forward to the pics–does this mean your very own sock yarn coming in the future? If so, I’m signing up now to buy your first skein.
Holy fiber-producing animals… if that was hanging in my back yard I’d call in sick!
3 loveable dorks x 3 crockpots / 1 afternoon = crapload of fibre!
Something is wrong with my math.
Looks like so much fun! Can’t wait to see the dried hanks
I love dyeing yarn. So fun. Looks like you guys had a blast - I can’t wait to see the pics, either!!
Looks like an awesome time!! That yarn looks so pretty just hanging on the line like that
Can’t wait to see it completely done!
See! Everyone is dyeing nowadays! Me?? I’m still waiting. And I’ve no excuse,, I’ve time, a big kitchen (that does need to be cleaned), and a huge ass backyard that has shrubs and bushes galore to hang freshly dyed/washed fiber on! I’ve plenty of prepped natural fiber and undyed yarn to boot. What is keeping me?
I think I had better jump start my kitchen cleaning skills!
Dyeing yarn is so much fun! I wish had a better place to do it - cause I would definitely get my hand dyed mojo on more often!
Oh, man, you up and dyed on us.
It does look like fun. I can hear the surplus of KoolAid packages I bought last year calling my name…
That was so much fun! I will have my own post about it up tonight (stupid firewall at work - can’t post images and this post NEEDS images). I’ve already spun some of my roving - am I the first??
great minds think alike - I spent all day Sunday dying!!! crazy small world this knitting thing.
WOW, that is a ton of yarn. Looks like fun.
What fun! I’m ‘dyeing’ to try this!
I can’t wait!
Is dyeing fun!?! Fiber arts brings out my inner dork… or inner psychopath. People tend to back away.
Those colors look great. Can’t wait to see some close-ups. I just dyed some Cormo locks, must post them.
You don’t need to sell me on the dyeing addiction. That bug got me LONG ago! Fun isn’t it though? I can’t wait to see all the pictures!
OMG- what a fun day!
