Yay! And WTF?
Mar 5th, 2008 by turtlegirl76
Let’s start with the WTF? Progress has been made on all but one of my WiPs this week. Behold, the plight of Lady Eleanor.

Yeah, I’ll be calling KnitPicks later today to get a replacement set of needles on the way. Poor Lady E. I have no idea where the other tip is, otherwise I’d have simply glued it back in with some Gorilla Glue. (Not to be confused with the Anti-Monkey Butt Powder).
The Kitty Sock is nearly done. I couldn’t get it on my foot, so I steam blocked it last night on my blocker (as in, the one that turtle daddy made to my own foot measurements).
I’m hoping this works. If it’s on the blocker ok, ideally it should get on my foot ok.
During my visit with Pam this last weekend, my fair aisle mojo came back with a storm and I made a lot of progress on the Ivy League Vest.
Between last Wednesday night and this last weekend, I added at least 20 rows of pattern to the piece. I’m closing in on beginning the neck steek. Looking at the whole thing, it’s pretty impressive.
I’m really looking forward to finishing this piece. Soon, soon. Well, that’s it for my WiPs this week. Did you notice something missing?
That would be the “YAY!”

Mom’s socks are done YAH!!
And ooh yeah baby! Your vest is coming along very nicely!
Was that your Harmony needle that broke off?!? Oh no!
Drool on the Ivy League vest.
they quickly shipped a replacement but I wasn’t happy.
My KP Harmony Sz8 broke too
Yah!!! Mom’s socks are done! The sock mojo is back
Oh no!! A casualty! LOVE the fair isle! Looks great! We have 2 large fair isle bowls coming out of the kiln today - but they only have 2 holes so you may want to wait for something bigger!!
Oooh, that is going to be one purty vest!
Yay, washing! That’s a good sign!
I’ve had the same thing happen with my Knit Picks needles. Crazy glue works, but of course you need to know where the tip is. . .
The Ivy League Vest is beautiful. Isn’t it amazing how quickly fairisle goes? Watching the pattern grow spirits you on.
Something about Pam’s sweater makes even *me* (read: lazyass) want to knit something Fair Isle. I’m glad she spread the mojo to you - lookin’ good!
Your Ivy League is looking fabulous! And yay for finished socks!
The KP Harmony tips falling off the base appears to be a widespread issue. It’s happened to 2 of mine and it’s happened to at least 2 others just in my knitting group. Not to mention all the others I’ve read about it happening to on their blogs. I hope it’s something they’re able to correct.
Pam’s latest sweater mojo must be contageous.
The kitty socks may fit after all!
WOW that vest is gonna be SWEET!
Oooh, everything is lurvely. I hope the replacements come soon for your needles. That royally sucks.
Okay, so is it totally weird that I saw that Anti Monkey Butt Powder just yesterday at the hardware store? This 12 yo girl and I both saw it at the same time, slowly read the display, and the look of horror on her face when it registered was priceless!
No! They’re not done!?! They can’t be! I am going to go into withdrawal if I can’t get my purple sock fix in every Wednesday. (I know what you’re thinking…”Knit your own damn purple socks.”)
Poor Lady Eleanor. At least you have lots on the needles to keep you busy while you wait for the needle. And you have that AWESOME kitty sock. I LOVE it.
Your Ivy League Vest totally took my breath away when I scrolled down. It is gorgeous. You are a fair isle goddess for sure
Hehe, you and Pam must have been dueling with your Fair Isle knitting! Geesh, when I first saw the Lady E I thought..hmm I’ve never seen a needle look like that..then it was like, duh!! I got my new 40″ cable and used it in class this weekend..out it pops! Yay on the Mom socks!
Vest looks GREAT. I want to know what you’re going to do about the ribbing. My corrugated ribbing is curling like mad. Grrrr. But you figure it all out and I’ll just follow you.
The rest of the stuff looks so great! Yay for socks.
That needle is definitely WTF!!! That is like the most random thing ever. Congrats on the vest progress. It just exploded!
Anti-Monkey Butt Powder - you can get that at Etsy, right? Or Target. They have everything there.
I swear, the more I see KP needles breaking all over the place, I feel like sending the whole shit back and investing in something else….sigh….I’m not thrilled with the harmony needles - too pointy - options too. I dunno why I keep them around. I tend to turn to my addi’s more often than not.
That vest is ALMOST inspiring me to do fair isle. Almost….
Oooh I like that vest!
Yay the socks are done!! Next up, Turtlegirl socks (well, I guess technically the kitty socks are for you, right?!).
Ugh to the knitpicks needle thing.
But honestly, most excited about the Ivy League vest. I absolutely love it and love seeing all the progress. Fabulous!!!!
Such impressive Fair Isle. I have an old UFO in Fair Isle and I don’t remember what it was supposed to be. It is in Reynolds Candide
I’ve had sooooooooooooo many of my tips do that to me. KP’s should seriously know me by voice, by now. The last go round, they finally suggested gorilla glue. I actually have some of that in my house too. I’m loving your Ivy League Vest. I thought hard about starting it the other night, but realized I didn’t have enough contrasting yarn. I do know, it will be my foray into steeks. I can’t wait to you reach that part.
Don’t you hate it when your needles break? So frustrating.
Look at your Fair Isle! It’s gorgeous - what a fantastic pattern it’s shaping up to be. That sort of line in the centre - is that where the steeks will happen? or is that a weird photo thingymajig?
Either way - I’m super impressed.
Oooh - watcha washing up? Your Mom’s socks?
Your kitty sock looks great - good idea to block it! Sheesh - when I had a sock I couldn’t put on I ripped it out and started over. You’re a far smarter woman than I!
Once you get to that point on your vest it will sail along - can’t wait for the photos. It will fit…it will fit.
Somebody has been a’knittin! I am loving the vest.. such beautiful colors! Too bad about the needle…
Glad mom’s socks are done! I would have finished OT2 today in the car, but i … brace yourself … ran out of yarn. Haven’t figured out the fix yet. ::sigh::
The kitties! The kitties are missing! The fair isle is looking great btw.
Your Ivy league vest is stunning! I love the colors! Sorry about the needle….at least they replace them!
Oh no, detached needle! I hope they replace it for you.
The FI looks fabulous. The kitty socks are on my to knit list, I bought that book right after it came out. Crazy cat ladies of the world, unite!
Woah, I’m gone for a week or so and the first post I read is so full of new pictures. Those Kitty socks are really cute! Its funny - when I first looked through the book, they weren’t on my immediate cast on list. When is Donna stopping by your blog?
I really love the kitty socks. Well done.
Oh No!!! Good thing Knit Picks is so good with customer service!
Mom’s socks are done! That is a yay. The needle breaking isn’t though. I hope Knit Picks treats you well. The vest is looking great!
That has happened to me so many times with my options needles that I don’t even use them anymore. KnitPicks always replaces the cords but then it happens to the new cords to. It takes time to call them (and I actually have to remember to do it), then my project is on hold, etc. It was starting to aggravate me so… I just stopped using the whole set. I love the idea of the options set but my particular set is cursed or something.
Your Fair Isle vest looks amazing! I am a sucker for anything orange!
