New Rule!
Nov 12th, 2007 by turtlegirl76
I’m imposing a new rule upon myself for Handspun Monday. Y’all may choose to play along if you wish. The rule being, if I haven’t spun anything to show you, I at least post what I’m planning on spinning next, or, if that has already been highlighted in a blog post, then something else from my stash. I haven’t spun in the last week, so here’s what’s next up in the queue to spin.

This is 60% Angora Rabbit 20% Tussah Silk and 20% Merino Wool from Wild Meadow Angora in the “Sunrise” colorway.

The dyers name is Jean Womack. I found her booth at MDSW and would you believe it - she accepted an IOU. She only took cash or check (I didn’t have cash on me nor my checkbook) and let me send her a check when I got home! Said she’d never been burned by a knitter before and I believe it.

I see a trend in my fiber stash with these colors though.

But can you blame me? So pretty. And vibrant! I have some more progress to make on the secret La project before I’ll let myself spin this but I hope to have something to show you next monday. It’s only 2oz, so it should be a quickie to spin. I may even try navajo plying this. We shall see what mood strikes me at the time.

I bought some of that exact roving in the exact same colorway at MDS&W. Heavenly stuff.
A vendor at Rhinebeck did the same thing for my sister last year. My sister bought a sweater’s worth of Alpaca, and the seller just said, “Mail me a check.” Knitters are good people.
I love those colors! I can’t wait to see what it looks like finished.
Sounds like a good rule. I can’t wait to see the next batch.
wow.. this looks delicious…. of course these are my favorite colors. Do you have an idea of what you want to make with it?. Is it easy to see the finished project when you look at roving like this? Thanks for sharing, sounds like a good rule for handspun Monday. We knitters never get enough of yarn . I think that we can all agree that knitters are honest and loyal. I too met a nice lady at Stitches that allowed me to send the check to her after I got home.
I love the colors and I love the way you photographed them. Well done!
The Womacks are a king and queen among us fiber folks. I own Jerry’s electric wheel, and he has been a great guy, thoughtful and willing to listen to feedback, provided wonderful customer service.
wow those are really pretty colors. i enjoy spinning and i do it very frequently, but it just takes me such a long time to finish anything. i’m in the midst of two different projects right now. i’m not sure if the lack of spinning monogamy is helping or hurting.
Oh, that is pretty, but my favorite is the turtle. What a cutie.
I don’t spin, but that roving is nice! I want to knit with it. I like the colors and think we just go through seasons of choosing colors.
Can’t wait to see the results.
Angora silk blend sounds fabulous.
Can’t wait to see how this spins up. Love the vibrant colours.
That is a gorgeous colorway! That is going to be so soft I bet once spun!
Oh, pretty! I have some silk that is dyed in a very similar colorway.
Wow, that’ll brighten up the cold winter days, for sure!
