Stitch Poet Designs
May 28th, 2007 by turtlegirl76
Stitch Poet, aka Champagne Maker (that’s a name, not an occupation) is a local Charlotte knitwear designer. Charlotte Yarn has been carrying her patterns recently, and when I came into work on Saturday I discovered we were having a trunk show of her work. 2 of the samples caught my eye and here they are, already finished.
The day started out slow, then Stacey showed up with her saturday knitting group, the Charlotte Purls. All hell broke loose then. Heh. Just kidding, but we did have fun! Michelle reminded me about the first pattern, “Passin’ the Dress Code”, that I had first seen when I walked in that day. We decided to have a knit-a-long on it. Well, sorry Michelle. Stacey had to go and open her mouth with a challenge. She joked that I’d have it done by Monday, then Sunday. Well, I finished it that night.
Pattern: “Passin’ the Dress Code” a Stitch Poet design by Champagne Maker
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Superchunky in color 16011 (2 balls)
Needles: Denise Interchangeables in US 10 & 11
Started: 4:30 pm Saturday
Finished: 9:30pm Saturday with a break for driving home from the shop and driving to the grocery store and making (and eating) dinner
Yes, you read that right. Denise Interchangeables. I broke down and bought the pink set on Saturday. Supposedly because I wanted to cast on right away for the capelet, but also because I’d been eyeing it for some time and everyone I know in Charlotte that has them, loves them. I figure they’ll be good for my planned summer lace knitting due to their grippy nature. So far, I really like them!
Next up was nice little cozy capelet called “Smart Girl”. I made this yesterday afternoon.
(Pardon the lack of makeup. Fortunately the morning light has blown out my face a bit so you can’t tell.)
Pattern: “Smart Girl” a Stitch Poet design by Champagne Maker
Yarn: Noro Kochoran in color #17
Needles: Denise Interchangeables US 11 & 13 and Clover Bamboo DPNs in US 8 for the i-cord.
Started: 4pm on Sunday
Finished: 11 pm on Sunday night with a break for a drive to Michaels for the ribbon for “Passin’ the Dress Code”, dinner, and a 2.5 hour nap on the couch.
I love me some quick projects. Calvin was so busy watching my fingers fly this weekend that he’s completely worn out.

The capelets are beautiful. Are the patterns available for sale anywhere?
Those are adorable! I think I’m going to need that first pattern!
And did Stacey not learn from my mistake in issuing the Tomato challenge?
WOW, I am impressed. Things do fly off your needles. They both look gorgeous.
I might have to make one for those days when we are too cheap to put the heat on, but it is a tad cold.
those capelets look beautiful. they’re just the ticket to keep the chill off of your shoulders on a summer knit.
calvin is adorable as usual. poor guy, being taunted by toy refrigerator magnet turtles and kittens!
Wow, you have been busy, they are both fab - no wonder Calvin is exhaused!

Awww, those are so sweet! Lovely design aside, that first one gives a great glimpse of your potential as Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween. Why TG, what cozy shoulders you have!

Your cat? Super cute. Cashmerino superchunky, huh? I have a few skeins that I’ve been meaning to destash, perhaps I should reconsider…
