Step 2: Spin It
May 15th, 2007 by turtlegirl76
Step 1 of course, being photograph it for Yarn Pr0n Friday. Remember Vincent’s Wheat Fields from a couple weeks ago? Here it is now. All spun up and 2-plied.
I tried to Navajo it but it was breaking and pissing me off so I went the easy way out and just 2 plied it instead.
I have approximately 207 yards of it. I hope to make some ankle socks from it. Toe up of course.
I purchased the roving from Noelle’s Noodles on Etsy. It was a joy to spin and I absolutely loved watching the color change as I was spinning it. Just what I needed to get my spinning juices flowing.
I know I promised pics of the “new” office but the ones I took last night suck major ass and I’m waiting on my camera to recharge so I can try it again. In the meantime, there’s some finished Red Dwarf Socks out there! Trillian42 is finished with her version in Socks That Rocks Heavyweight - the striping is so cool with the pattern. And Telmah finished her first one in a solid color of Wick. It’s freakin’ gorgeous. Seriously. When I saw hers, I realized only then just how pretty the pattern is. Check out her picture of the heel. I impress myself sometimes.

The skein looks wonderful!! Great job!!!
Mmm Yummy green/yellows. You know, if you had Navajo’d it, you’d have even less yardage.. sometimes a 2-ply is the right thing to do
Green/yellow/orange seems to be the colorway of 2007’s Spring/Summer. Now I need some green fabric to go along with the yellows I have.
I should add that I love the sock pattern.. Just more fuel for my insanity.
You should submit the pattern to Magknits. She would snatch it up in a heartbeat to publish it!
You did good with that pattern.
Hey, I got my book, and have casted on for Tomato! My first top-down sweater in the round, and I’m loving it!
Take care!
Oh, your handspun is very pretty! Reminds me of Ireland!
so pretty, love those colors! You’re so talented, I can’t wait to see the socks.
Hmm. How do I allow Blogger to RSS feed? I’ve never thought about it before. I have everything under feeds set to “full”, I’m not sure what I’m missing.
Pretty pretty!
Getting the spinning groove on I see!
Look at you with your spinning! It looks great!
The socks are super cute. Soon you’ll be designer extrodinaire!
Yum, yum, yum.
I love the yarn! It’s my fav color! Isn’t Noelle’s stuff great - I met her when I was traveling for work to Albuquerque. I miss her!
That’s some yummy yarn! I love the green.
Lookin’ good - love the colors!
Would it be bad if I converted the pattern to dpns cuff down?
Course then I wouldn’t get the snazzy pie slice heel.
Very cool handspun.
*meow*
