Long Weekend
May 14th, 2007 by turtlegirl76
So this was the weekend of office moves. My work office was moved from the main location to an offsite office building 15 minutes away (Yay! No Corporate! And for some reason - I can chat and read blogs again! We’ll see how long that lasts) and I moved my office around so I could get the Ikea bookshelf put together. Of course, this made the issue of painting my home office more pressing. Because once that bookself is up, there’s no moving it. So I don’t have pictures yet but I will. Just a little more stuff to put away and spots on the wall to touch up, and yarn to organize and we’ll be good to go.
Now if I can just resist the urge to hank up all those skeins of yarn so they look all pretty on the shelves I’ll be good to go.
My first real homespun yarn is all dry and the twist set. Not too shabby. I ended up with about 206.7 yards (yes, I measured in a round about way) and think I might be able to eek out a pair of ankle socks. I don’t know how soft they’ll be but hey, I just think it’d be incredibly cool if I could make socks from my first handspun.
That’s all for today until I can get pictures of everything. I don’t even have a good cat picture for you. At least not of mine. But I do have a picture of Rajah and his owner. She was walking him in the parking lot at MDSW. Very regal isn’t it? I think she said he was about 13 or 14 years old.

Wow! That is a goroeus cat!
Last week I was having problems with my VPN connection at work, and when it finally came back up I could get YouTube again! I haven’t tried Shockwave yet, but I’m hoping.
That is one big fluffy cat.
That is one pretty kitty!
I cannot wait to see your handspun. I want a wheel soooo bad. It has to be much easier and faster than using a drop spindle!
The cat looks like it is all fuff. Can’t imagine taking my cat to MDSW but then again mine are not that well behaved.
Looking forward to seeing you spinning.
I’m another person desperate for a wheel. If I didn’t have some pride left, I’d be sitting outside a fiber festival with a ‘will work for spinning wheel money’ sign around my neck. But you can’t use pride to spin…
Rajah is beautiful. Very elegant, and oh so fuzzy. That poor woman must be picking up cat fur 24/7!
I took that class at Rainy Day and now I want a wheel. Like RIGHT NOW! but I am trying to wait until after the move. I just don’t see that happening. *sigh*
see you tomorrow?
Wow that is a huge cat! Can’t wait to see your handspun and your new yarnoffice!
Congrats on the new office! What a gorgeous cat!!
Rajah is a gorgeous cat! His name suits him perfectly - and man does he look good for his age.
Congrats on the new office - a yarny home office sounds good too. Hmmm…I think maybe I read blogs just to get ideas I can copy…
That cat is GORGEOUS!! I love the office, too- looks fantastic!
cute cat!!
